H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier

H. Upmann is expanding its cigar line with the upcoming release of the H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier (German for ‘Barber’), a premium cigar that was made to pay homage to the innovative craftsmanship and a favorite pastime of the brand’s founding brothers.

The 1844 Special Edition Barbier uses a unique combination of two Ecuadorian wrappers–Connecticut and Sumatra–with a Java binder and a blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican and Broadleaf fillers.

“The use of these contrasting shades of wrappers makes for an eye-catching, barber-pole-like presentation,” says Pedro Ventura, handmade operation and product development manager of Tabacalera de Garcia in La Romana, Dominican Republic where the cigar is being produced.

He added, “The wrappers work together to add an entirely new flavor profile to the cigar, making one’s smoking session a lot more interesting as well.”

The 1844 Special Edition Barbier will come in five sizes: Corona (5 x 44), Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 x 54), Belicoso (6 1/8 x 52), and Churchill (7 x 50). The price per cigar will range in price from $7.25 to $9.75.
