ATL Cigar Co. and Luciano Cigars has announced the launch of ATL’s fifth cigar line, Wise Blood. Inspired by the story of a man’s complex pursuit of the truth, Wise Blood’s blend aims to spark a reflective smoking experience that encourages attention to nuance and an appreciation of the harmony of a paradoxically balanced blend.
“Wise Blood” was the first novel of Georgia author Flannery O’Connor and tells the story of a Southern veteran in the mid-20th century. The main character is a man of deep faith who struggles to reconcile his convictions with his lived experience. The novel is viewed as being comical and also profound, a contradiction that is reflected in the cigar’s blend that is described as being both balanced and sweet. Just as the novel itself is complex and satisfying to the reader, ATL’s newest cigar delivers that same experience to the smoker–a thoughtful struggle between self-reflection and the convictions people have about the world around them.

ATL’s Wise Blood is the third cigar created in partnership with master blender Luciano Meirelles, who is responsible for other well-known blends like the Fiat Lux, Luciano The Dreamer, and Maria Lucia. Wise Blood is the first ATL cigar to be produced and distributed exclusively through Meirelles’ new vertically-integrated company, Luciano Cigars.

We dedicate the Wise Blood blend to every aficionado who uses the cigar to contemplate deeper questions and to investigate the nuances that emerge in intimate conversation.”
Wise Blood is a mild-to-medium bodied smoke with an Ecuadorian Habano Rosado HVA wrapper, an Ecuadorian Connecticut binder, and filler tobaccos from three of Nicaragua’s growing regions. According to ATL, Wise Blood is a “delicately balanced cigar, carrying sweet almond notes, with hints of lemon zest that delight the palate and reward a patient smoker.” The cigar will come in 20-count boxes and will be presented in four sizes: Lonsdale (6 1/2 x 42), Robusto Extra (6 x 50), Robusto (5 1/4 x 54), Gordito (4 x 60). The price per cigar will range from $9.99 to $10.99, before any applicable taxes.
