Four new sizes for the Red Anchor cigar line have been announced. This cigar line was first launched in 1772 and created by Albertus Hillen Sigarenfabriek in Delft, Holland. The brand was then passed down through his family until 1890 when it was sold to Martinus Holland. He continued to expand the brand into a tin format through the early 1900s until the brand went out of business in 1937.

In 2022, United Cigars brought the 250 year old brand back to the market with the help of the Kelner Family. Red Anchor is produced by Hendrik Kelner Jr.’s Kelner Boutique Factory located in the Dominican Republic.

“The blend means a lot to my family and myself, this is a cigar that represents the colorful history of the Red Anchor and our Dutch family roots,” states Hendrik Kelner, Jr., cigar maker at the Kelner Boutique Factory.

Oliver Nivaud, director of operations for United Cigars, added: “Celebrating 250 years of the Red Anchor with the Admiral vitola in 2022 was very special. The story and the blend are historic, the additional vitolas are a perfect expression of this.”

Red Anchor has an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper, a Dominican Monte Plata binder from the Kelner Family Farm, and Dominican San Vincente, Dominican Habano ’92, Pennsylvanian filler tobaccos. The suggested retail price will range from $15 to $30 per cigar.

This year, four new sizes of Red Anchor will be released: Gunner (6 1/2 x 43), Captain (5 x 50), Commodore (7 x 55), and an event only size, Cooper (4 1/2 x 43). These new sizes join the Admiral (6 x 52), which was launched (an quickly sold out) at the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) trade show in Las Vegas. Red Anchor comes in 25-count boxes.
