Tomasito Cruz is a four-time Grammy winner but his next release is one that could take his fans by surprise. Cruz has announced that he is releasing his own cigar brand, named Candela. This cigar will feature an Ecuadorian Candela and Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan-grown Jalapa filler tobaccos, and a Jalapa Habano binder.
Cruz’s Candela is described as a medium to full-bodied smoke that will put out “well-rounded flavors of earth, pepper, leather and cinnamon.” Candela will be available in just one size–a 6 x 52 Toro that will come packaged in 10-count boxes. Each cigar will cost $14 before any applicable taxes.
Cruz was born in Cuba and has been an avid cigar smoker for much of his life. Born in Pindar del Rio, Cruz’s earliest memories are of his grandmother rolling cigars in Cuba. For this special venture, Cruz set out to funnel the same passion he’s had for music into creating a “hit” cigar. To help him bring his cigar to life, Cruz worked with Tabacalera CM, located in Esteli, Nicaragua. Candela, which means “fire,” was the name of his first album and made for the perfect name for his first cigar release. Future cigar releases from Cruz will carry the names and colors of his other albums.
“Candela is the legacy of my ancestors, mixed with a musical theme and dedicated with love to all who carry within our Latin essence,” commented Candela in a press release announcing the release of Candela.
